1777, Saratoga!

"Come on boys, we must hold the line, for the King!"

"Come on boys, we must attack their lines...and put them out for Liberty!"

Behind the gabions some guns, the enemies in line of sight.

Here American militias and volunteers, freedom and independence in sight.

Elegant gesture, iron discipline ... General Philips is at the forefront.

Hello everyone,
AWI today, October 7th . Saratoga's campaign almost over. Unless...
The British, played by myself, form the last ramparts.
Opposite the Americans, less experienced but numerous, so numerous,
are led by Christophe and Serge.
Not to mention, on both sides, some allies.

Il me faut conserver
The initial positions: in red my British units. I have to keep both redoubts and
Freeman's farm for a total victory.

The distances are short, but a telescope is still useful ...

...pour scruter l'ennemi.
... to watch the enemy.

Few approach moves , only two game turns and already my troops are assailed.

At the edge of the light woods, the Whigs have set their guns and accurate and long-range shots Kentucky rifles .

Fortunately for me, not far from there resounded the Hessian drum of the gathering.

Half of my men are routed, but the losses are numerous among the enemy, the final victory will be played morally ... We must hold!

And now the continental regiments reinforce the enemy lines, Indians in support ...

Still two turns to play, Freeman's farm is almost lost... Breyman's redoubt, on the other hand, can be saved, I should avoid the major defeat ...

The last reserves are useful on each side, the valorous Indians charge, shirtless, rifle and Tomahawk in hand ... the scalps of my men will soon adorn their totems.

Because I feel more and more alone, my last battalions yield Freeman's Farm, undeniable tactical victory of the Americans, the British crown falls!

6pm..."We capitulate!"
6pm ... "We capitulate!" With an elegant but resigned gesture, I put down my hat at the feet of the winners, soon followed by my sword ... A surrender that will be staged in painting ...

By visiting the Rotunda of the United States Capitol in Washington, perhaps will you have the opportunity to approach this beautiful picture of Trumbull, and with a little imagination ...

It will come to life before you for a moment.... But that's another story ...

And if you didn't watch my latest 2 min video on the AWI...

Merci à tous, thanks everyone,

And welcome to The Lord of Silence!

Phil.

  15. That`s a pretty fair shot at reproducing some of the exciting action at Saratoga. May I ask what rules you are using? The miniatures as always knock hairs off of my 28mm, even though you paint in 15mm hehe. Excellent sir!

  34. Bonjour Phil, Christophe et les autre riflemen. Another nice report and great photos. A member of your group, who shall remain anonymous, asked me for information on visiting Saratoga. I suggested Yorktown instead, for several obvious reasons. The closet AWI site to me is Rochambeau Wines and Spirits on the spot where he and EashWashin met to plan the March to Yorktown.
