1811 - ¡Usted no pasará!
Milices et volontaires se barricadent. Les Français sont attendus de pied ferme. Militia and volunteers barricade themselves. The French are firmly expected .
Spanish flags flutter in the wind. On the heights, we decide on a plan: the first line is fragile, the second, will the second one, visible in the background, be enough?
The French plan of the day: three axes of attack against our strong defensive positions, but Napoleon's troops are superior in number.
The wait was short, very quickly the first detonations from undergrowth ...
Hello everyone, Battle on the peninsula today, between the invaders Dimitri, Serge, Teddy and Thierry ... And the resisters Benoit, Christophe and Phil ...
A short video, sound and light, of 2 minutes to get in the mood ...
Despite the Spanish resistance, the French take their first victory points ...
Intense fighting in the center, many losses on both sides after furious charges.
The French are busy: they have only 3 points of victory, against 6 to the opponent, they will have to commit the reserve ...
Here they are! To the cries of "Vive l'Empereur!" the bearskins are throwing themselves into a frenzied charge across the fields, scattering the unfortunate Spanish battalions!
A l' Est l'infanterie française a fort à faire face aux troupes britanniques, ils échouent à deux contre un..."Hold the line, hold the line!"...L'espoir renaît de notre côté. In the East the French infantry has to face the British troops, they fail two against one ... "Hold the line, hold the line!"Hope is reborn on our side.
The progresses of the French are obvious and victory points are now shared ... The outcome of the battle will be smoky, and uncertain ...
The Grenadiers perform miracles, but the crossing of the river delays them to bring the coup de grace. Some brave Spaniards take the opportunity to reform lines and to resist.
In the center while the Spaniards suffer terribly, the British resist, even progress, the Red Lines demoralize the French center in the last turn.
The French generals must go to the evidence, they will not win today. Tomorrow maybe, but that's another story ...
Merci à tous, thanks everyone, gracias a todos!
And after a frenzied party, nothing beats a good meal, raclette at Benoit's place ... From laft to right : Benoit, Alex, Ronie, Christophe, Cédric, Phil, Arnaud and Serge.
The Spaniards certainly benefited from having a couple of battalions of Brits to stiffen the resistance - the French seem to have been unlucky not to gain the victory!
I prefer the French to the Spaniards, thank you very much. The Spaniards are too crazy for moi refined taste :) Macron was supposed to come to a state visit here today, but he cancelled due to domestic troubles.... you know which one...
Great looking game, and nice to see the Esagnoles in action.
My favorite shot, though, is of the guys together après le jeu. In the end the hobby is as much about our friends as it is the figures and terrain, no?
That is a superb report Phil. Your video is wonderful and what a great game it looks too and with good friends and a good meal - a perfect occasion. It was good to see that the redcoats held the line too - as one would hope! :-) Best wishes, Jason
