Direction Qadesh!

Only a morning breeze disturbed the tranquility of the place until then...
Then came the sounds of our hooves, the dust kicked up from our chariot wheels...

We settled on the banks of the Orontes not long ago, our army is powerful,
our chariots numerous and hard-hitting. We are the Hittites.

Pharaoh recently sent some troops to watch us from afar.
The Egyptians, led by Benoit on this day, intend to keep this region.

A region they left their mark on...

Gods have decided on the place of the battle, dry decor, a few buildings, palm trees, ruins...

...And an oasis, defended by Egyptian and Nubian archers on their left flank...
Pharaoh's chariots have just turned around...But is it a trap?

My center is solid, armed with spears and blades, my infantry is advancing, protected by
my archers. In the distance we can see the shields of our enemies covered with animal skins.

On my right, under the disapproving eye of a Sphynx, my chariots have engulfed
themselves in the breach but they are already the target of Egyptian archers.

On my left is a duel of archers and spearmen, the losses accumulate on both sides.

It is ultimately my right wing that will decide the victory, Pharaoh's archers
no longer know where to turn, my chariots charge in a noise of storm and the Egyptians demoralize, taken from the flank by my brave Hittites!!

End in a bloodbath of a small battle part of a campaign leading to the famous battle of Kadesh, illustrated in my last video...

For today, my Hittites remain masters of the land, land where the vestiges
of a great civilization will remain for centuries...

And precisely, a few centuries later, a little further south...

Sudan, 19th century. French sailors set up their artillery near ancient remains...
But I digress, that's another story, which I'll tell you next time...

Merci à tous,

Phil.
