1276, Le siège de Ronevald...1276, Ronevald's siege.

Year of Grace 1276, besieged for three weeks the castle of Count Ronevald is suffering...

The previous assaults were doomed to failure ...

A quelques lieues de là....
A few yards away...

Gawain the merchant is going to sell his bad wine to the besieging army.

But on his arrival he finds that an exit has begun ... Count Ronavald seems bold today!

Effectively, a few leagues from there rides the cousin of the Count, to the rescue of Ronnevald...

Hello everyone,
A siege disrupted by an exit on this day,
Alex and I are surprised by a violent attack
Under the walls of the city: Count Ronnevald receives
The help of his cousin, the cruel François.

From the top of the ramparts, the soldiers saw the exit of the valiant Ronnevald.

Turn 3: Ronnie (who plays Lords Ronnevald and François) obviously decided to attack Alex while I try to wake up my troops, quietly sitting at the encampment.

Ronnevald rushes over poor Alex, soon caught in a pincer between Ronnevald and his cousin.

After a difficult awakening my army moves and leaves his quarters to support Alex.

A light breeze brings them freshness and clamor of the fighting from the top of the ramparts, it is the hungry civilians who take advantage of the spectacle of this day.

Unfortunately I arrive a little late, Alex's army is cut in pieces.

And my foot soldiers badly resist to the charge of the heavy steeds of the enemy ...

The end of the battle was only cries, rage, slaughters, the two camps suffering heavy losses ...

Covering the last shrieks and groans with his trumpet, finally the herald of Ronnevald announces his victory, and the end of the fighting on this day.

In the twilight, the wounded and dead are counted ... and blessed!

Et à la nuit tombée...And at nightfall ...

Gauvain will not have lost his day ... The hungry and thirsty villagers are snatching his wine ...

♪ Long after his brilliant victory to deliver the place ♫
Troubadours and Finders sang of Lord Ronnevald's exploits ...

♪But for those who listen attentively to the end of the song,
A more dull and queasy victory is told to us...♫

It is pointed out that many people were robbed or killed in the moonlight after getting drunk with the wine of Gawain ... Premeditated poisoning bu Phil or Alex? This is an other story...

Merci,

Phil.

Bienvenue à Gonzo, Hils, Ion!

  24. Hi, this is simply astonishing and incredible. Are those really only 15mm? How utterly superb. The style, the beauty, the pageant (and the wonderful narrative translation to English.. which is so very much appreciated). This is Steve`s wife here (from the game cupboard), he`s away this week but asked me to check all his usual favourite blogs. I`m so glad I did, as this AAR and all the photos simply took my breath away and left me in awe. How do you DO it, week after week (I`ve been looking back at all the other weeks articles you write too), so many wonderful table top scenarios and photos and games. Do you ever sleep hehe?

    RépondreSupprimer
    Réponses
    1. Well, too kind of you Hils, many thanks...And, to answer you, YES they are 15mm, I HOPE that the translation is not too bad, and NOT week after week...As you said it, I must sleep! Every two weeks approximatively! Anyway, your kind words are, of course, much appreciated, right to my hearth! Salutations to your and Steve!

    2. Once every two weeks is still massively impressive, and a thing to be proud of.. your sheer tenacity and devoted dedication is so admirable. As for 15mm, wow, you put most of us 28mm painters to utter shame (and almost makes me look wistfully at 15`s with an appealing eye and inner longing to `go that way` too).

Salutations to you (and family) Phil.

  28. That looked a splendid setup, and the game report gets a a good vote from me.At first sight of them I thought Barrels of Gunpowder would certainly stir things up in a smokey black cloudy way,but it turned out to be grog! Which is also good for cleaning the rust off armour along with the paint too. Phil this was an awesome post, and I enjoyed my visit once again.
