10 juin 1807, Heilsberg

June 9, 1807, Poland. Loneliness of a Russian general.
Facing the French pressure the command post must be abandoned.
9 juin 1807, Pologne.

Direction Heilsberg.
The whole Russian army is retreating. Heilsberg direction.

Le jour suivant...

The day after...

Heilsberg et ses positions retranchées. Le 10 juin, l'armée est prête. A nouveau.
Heilsberg and its entrenched positions. On June 10, the army is ready. Again.

Des deux côtés on s'observe...
Observations on both sides...

Then came the first cannon shots, starting point of a bloody day.

Hello everyone!
Benningsen chose the entrenched positions of Heilsberg  on 10 June.
He will soon be joined by Bagration who must cross the river.
But already Murat approaches. With hundreds of highly motivated horsemen.

Here he is the impetuous Murat, at the head of an impressive mass of cavalry ...

The French plan: violent attack with the cavalry
while on their right they'll try to take the redoubt.

Victory points at the end of the battle :
No French redoubt : Russian major victory---2 French redoubt : minor French victory---
3 French redoubts : French major victory---
1 French redoubt : we'll have to compare losses to describe the marginal winner.

Gortchakov (Dimitri) on our left wing, in place. In the distance Benoit progresses.

Threats become more precise ... The "tirailleurs du Po" are dangerously approaching
our positions, and behind them a trail of red feathers ... We'll have to hold!

Left wing: our grenadiers are installed in right angle while the gunners
try to slow the French mass.

After only 5 turns, the center becomes a real (equine) butcher's shop...
The French cavalry is stopped at first by our artillery and squares...

But we must soon engage our reserve, the Prussian cavalry plugs the breaches.

Et remporte de brillantes victoires dans un
premier temps, immortalisées bien plus tard...

And wins brilliant victories at first,
immortalized much later...

Mais l'embellie est de courte durée...

But this boom is short-lived...

Big problem for our army, against all odds French prevent our
indispensable grenadiers to cross the bridge!

And on all sides now thunders artillery ...

12th turn, shootings and fights are intense ... but at the moment we
hold three redoubts... and the victory!

Maximal tension around the table...another three turns to be played!

Finally the "furia francese" outweighs the left redoubt in a bloodbath ...
We must therefore count the losses to find the winner.

The accounts are tight but it is ultimately the French team that wins a marginal victory!

Well, then we retreat once again ... Come on guys, in a few hours we'll have arrived.
What is the name of the next town already? Ah yes ... Friedland, but that's another story ...

Merci! Thanks! Cпасибо! Dziękuję!

Phil

  6. Excellent !
