1810, a Spanish insurrection...1810, Resistencia española...1810, une insurection espagnole...

This battle starts on a misty dusk in Autumn 1810... out of thickets, some Spanish  skirmishers
attacked a French reconnaissance unit . In a few hours the fire spreads...
C'est par un soir brumeux d'Automne 1810 que débute cette bataille...sortis des taillis, quelques tirailleurs
 espagnols attaquent une unité de reconnaissance française. En quelques heures c'est l'embrasement...

Ne pouvant plus supporter la présence de l'occupant, les villages de la région se soulèvent
 et mettent à mort les squelettiques garnisons postées ça et là...

Au petit matin, la réaction française est en route.
Elle doit être rapide car des éclaireurs ont signalé des troupes anglaises à quelques kilomètres...

Unable to stand the presence of the occupant anymore, the villages of the region are rising
  and murder the weak garrisons here and there ...
In the morning, the french reaction is on the way.
French troops must be quick, some English divisions are reported within a few miles...

10h00 : arrivée des divisions françaises. Les Espagnols, inférieurs en nombre et en cohésion, se sont barricadés. Les généraux britanniques ont promis d'être là avant midi.
10:00: arrival of French divisions. The Spaniards, outnumbered and with worse cohesion, barricaded themselves.  The British generals have promised to be there before noon.

L'aile droite de Ronnie : milices et volontaires se rassemblent autour du village.

Le centre : mes Espagnols pourront profiter du soutien de quelques bataillons portugais.
The center: my Spanish can take advantage of support of some Portuguese battalions.

Et notre aile gauche, protégé par un ruisseau serpentant à travers la campagne. Serge fait agiter ses drapeaux avant le choc, qu'on devine terrible.
And our left wing, protected by a creek winding through the countryside. 
Serge waves the flags before the shock, we guess terrible.

3 ème tour : les divisions françaises de Dimitri et d' Alex semblent assoiffées de vengeance, le pont est littéralement pris d'assaut malgré les boulets espagnols qui pleuvent!
3rd round: the French divisions of Dimitri and Alex seem to be hungry for vengeance,
 the bridge is literally stormed despite a deluge of spanish fire!

Et voilà les lanciers et les cuirassiers de Dimitri qui franchissent le ruisseau, ne trouvant comme adversaires que des troupes de réserve et quelques Garrochitas...
And now lancers and cuirassiers of Dimitri crossing the creek, 
finding  only some reserve troops and some Garrochitas as opponents ...

Tactique simple et néanmoins efficace des Français : attaque sur les ailes avant l'arrivée éventuelle des renforts britanniques. Les points de victoire se situant dans les villages et sur le pont, ils sont assurés d'un match nul si les Espagnols retraitent...
Simple, yet effective French tactic : attack on the wings before the possible arrival of British reinforcements. Victory points are located in the villages and on the bridge, they are assured of a draw if the Spanish retreat ...

Tour 5 : les plumets rouges font leur apparition sur la table...face à eux pour l'instant nous n'avons que réserve, milice et
une poignée de vétérans espagnols, et ces renforts britanniques qui n'arrivent toujours pas...
5th turn : red feathers make their appearance on the table... in front of them  we have so far only reserve, militia and a handful of Spanish veterans, and the British reinforcements are late, so late ...

7ème tour, au centre c'est l'enfer : surgis des brumes matinales, dragons et lanciers  français d'Alex  chargent mes dragons Portugais, et l'issue des corps à corps est incertaine.

charging  my Portuguese dragons , and the outcome of melee is uncertain.

C'est au même moment que les divisions françaises d'Alexis passent à l'attaque! Derrière des barricades de fortune, les premiers feux sont à mon avantage... Resistencia, chicos!
At the same time Alexis ' French divisions go on the attack! Behind makeshift barricades, 
the first fires are in my favor ... Resistencia, chicos!

Dé d'activation réussi! Trois divisions britanniques rejoignent le champ de bataille...au loin les combats font rage, et les Français ont déjà 4 points de victoire sur 6..."Come on boys, be brave!"
Successful activation dice! Three British divisions join the battlefield ... off, fights are raging,
 and the French have already 4 victory points out of 6 ... "Come on boys, be brave!"

Dès son arrivée sur la table de jeu, la colonne anglaise de Serge est attaquée...
Les Napolitains et Français de Christophe se ruant sur les barricades d'un côté,
les cuirassiers de Dimitri chargeant des carrés Anglais de l'autre, le milieu d'après-midi est difficile pour nous...
Upon arrival at the game table, the English column of Serge is attacked ... The Neapolitans and French of Christophe rushing barricades on one side, the cuirassiers of Dimitri charging English squares on the other,
the middle afternoon is difficult for us...

Accueillie par l'artillerie de la garde napolitaine, une autre colonne britannique est déjà ralentie...

At last! Ma division arrive au centre, les Anglais les lieux tagués par les Espagnols, la partie ne sera pas aussi facile dorénavant! On tient le match nul!

Sur notre aile droite, Ronnie est héroïque : non content d'avoir résisté avec ses Espagnols, il charge les hussards français avec sa division de cavalerie Anglaise fraîchement arrivée...et emporte tout sur son passage!
On the right wing, Ronnie is heroic: not content with having resisted with  his Spaniards, he charges the French hussars with his division of English cavalry just arrived ... and takes everything in its path!

En jaune, les déroutes...nombreux sont ceux qui fuient ou restent à terre. Les Anglais reprennent du terrain, mais la victoire semble sourire aux Français...je perds le moulin, désormais en feu, et de nouveau 4 points de victoire français.
In yellow, the routs ... many are leaking or are grounded. The British resumed the land, but the victory seems to smile to French team...I lose the mill, now on fire, and again four victory points for the French.

Serge vaincu, Dimitri et Alex se jettent sur le centre...fatigués par leur marche forcée, et dorénavant sans alliés les Anglais ne pourront reprendre le point du match nul...
Serge defeated, Dimitri and Alex throw themselves on the center ...exhausted by their forced march, and now without allies, the British can not take the point of the draw...

C'est par un coucher de soleil que se termine cette bataille...
Les grenadiers français restent maîtres du terrain.
L'aigle impérial n'est pas mort en Espagne, pas encore...mais ceci est une autre histoire...
This is a sunset that ends this battle ...
