1811, la destinée du capitaine Barrit en Espagne...The destiny of Captain Barrit in Spain ...

In the evening of battle, the paramedics are busy, the day was bloody ... Captain Barrit, injured in the leg is refreshed... But will he be saved?

Some squadrons of the 8th hussars began this day with a reconnaissance work,
the Spaniards are hiding everywhere in this region.

The first visible Spaniards were entrenched at the top of a hill around the Church.

Hello everyone,
French offensive in this day on positions
held by Spaniards ... while waiting for the British reinforcements.
The French are played by Dimitri, Christophe, Benoi and Serge.
Opposite, Cedric, Ronie and myself, impatient to see the columns of reinforcements.

Dimitri quickly sent his French infantry division to the assault. The hill is taken after a difficult climb, during which a cannonball took away captain Barrit's left leg.

The barricades crossed, the French can read a dedication on the facade
of the church ... The day's going to be long and bloody ...

On the other side of the table, Ronie also sees the arrival of the French, led by Benoit. He had time to destroy the bridge, the French will have to get wet ... and waste time.

"Fuego!"
Untiring, our gunners will struggle all day to slow down the occupant."Fuego!"

Because we were waiting for the promised reinforcements of our British and
Portuguese allies ... ♫ And soon, in the distance, the melody of the bagpipes ... ♪

The reinforcements arrive in march columns, very late, under the eye of their generals.

British cavalry and Portuguese infantry form the second column ... but they already cross the Spanish rout ... our sky's darkenning.

Ouch, the Spanish are fewer and fewer, killed, dead or on the run and the French cross the river ... At one against three our defeat is now almost certain ...

The French vultures rush on our lines, they want to claim the merits of a victory already half acquired in front of the Emperor, the laurels are ready ...

The day is already advanced when the British lines are formed, they progress but at the same time the Spanish crack, lobsters are submerged!

The French suffer, the British fire is devastating, but at one against three we must fall back ... 6 victory points to 2, French victory!

The sky, carrying threatening clouds, seems to announce that the battle is not over, the "Cazadores de Cataluña" are already ready, like so many others ... but that's another story!

Thanks, I wish you a happy end of year...and rendez-vous to 2018!

Phil.

Oh yes, I forgot ... For those who care about the fate of Captain Barrit, having lost his leg he was away from the front, and gradually resumed his painting, his old passion ...

Somewhere in Catalonia, a small dusty painting adorns the wall of a castle, the only known witness of Captain Barrit's passage and his forgotten castle dreams in Spain ...

Welcome to Michael, Lalstair, John, Bill and Peter.

A l'année prochaine...See you on 2018...Nos vemos en 2018...

Phil...

  23. I dont know why exactly but I think this is my favourite one yet (maybe the pomp and glory, it just looks so spectacular... and the premise of the story was really inspiring). Stunning photos and amazing painting of the miniatures.... but the battle itself and the story made it for me.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR.
