Hello everyone!
9 players for our last game: the battle
of Gorodeczna, with some additional reinforcements.
Objectives: the three bridges, a beachhead is worth one point victory ...
Premiers arrivés, les Russes s'installent. Et observent de loin... First come, the Russians settled. And observe from afar ... |
... the progress of the Austrians in the mist and freshness of the morning ... |
Alongside them, protected by a screen of skirmishers, Saxon columns, flags flying. |
A progression slightly troubled by our few Cossacks skirmishes. |
Les Russes consultent leur carte... The Russians consult their map ... |
After 2 rounds of movement, the situation is to our advantage, a bridgehead in the center. |
But artilliery is also effective in the opposite camp. The Saxons on one side ... |
...Et les Autrichiens de l'autre! Austrians on the other one! |
The reaction is supported by the splendid Austrian cavalry... |
La réaction Austro-saxonne est violente et notre tête de pont doit reculer au 7ème tour...The Austro-Saxon reaction is violent and our bridgehead must turn back on 7th turn... |
Tensions around the table: Victory points once again shared ... Who will make the difference? |
Some welcome reinforcements on bith sides, here the Russian Grenadiers, on the left! |
Sur notre gauche, les marais forment un 'no man's land...mais un ordre autrichien est passé! On our left, marshes form a 'no man's land ... but an Austrian order is arrived! |
Our grenadiers defend 1 vs 2 ... They'll resist, but losses are terrible! |
It is under the sun that ends this battle with a (minor) Russian victory ..Hurrah! |
Our brave Russians held, line infantry, grenadiers and volunteers,
they resisted, true to their reputation ... And no doubt that a few months later,
when winter comes, we can again count on them .. .
The same Opolchenies... the same place ... but this is another story, a little colder ... |
Merci à tous, Thanks,
Phil...
Welcome to Warren Abbox!
Note: Russian grenadiers and Opelchenies were not part of the battle, but a few vestres from there only. On the other side came the third Austrian division and the 22th Saxon ...

Lovely gaming and figures again, Phil. Love the Russian troops in green - a nice contrast to the brave Austrians serving under the Emperor in the bad campaign. It reminds me a bit of how Hideyoshi sent his tens of thousands of samurai to Korea to either keep them busy or whittle them down.
RépondreSupprimerWrong troops in the wrong war...but beautiful on our tables, love the Austrian uniforms! Thanks a lot...
SupprimerOutstandingly massive game, Phil! Nine players participated? Epic! As always enjoyed the BatRep with animation and great photos. Well done and nice defense for the Motherland!
RépondreSupprimerYes, nine players, that was a real pleasure...and a little bit noisy!
SupprimerJust mind blowing, the scale of the game is quite something Phil.
RépondreSupprimerVery kind of you Michael...

Lovely game Phil. Attacking Russian determined Russian lines is never easy job to do. Every wargamer who ever tried to play 2nd Polish War can admit that. By the way great table and I love to see so many people involved into the game. Good stuff!
RépondreSupprimerVery kind of you Bart, it was a real pleasure to play 5 vs 4...and the 2nd Polish War is one of my favorites, its tragical end means so many things...

SupprimerFine battle and report, Homie.
RépondreSupprimerAnd with a closer look, I see...Picture #11: "Austrians on the other side"... (1) heavy cannon smoke, and (2) a backfire! (:0-)>
You're right cap'tain...may be...another Austrian gun...Russian fog...smoke from a pipe of a lost hobbit...I will conduct the investigation...
