A few miles from Pydna ...168BC...A quelques lieues de Pydna...168av JC...

Para Bellum...Rest and food before the battle ...Repos et nourriture avant la bataille...

Bonjour à tous,
Bataille de rencontre aujourd'hui,
nous sommes en 168 avant JC.
Les Romains veulent en finir
avec le royaume de Macédoine ...

Hello everyone,
Encounter battle today, we are in 168 BC.
The Romans  want to finish with
the kingdom of Macedonia...

I play the Roman army, strengh and honor...

On their way to Pydna, this "what if" opposes the first legions of the
Roman republic opposed to the Macedonian  forefront ...
Indeed, the general Scipio Nasica, at the head of 8,000 men, makes believe in an attempt
of overflow while Paul-Emile, at night , carries the bulk of the army right on Persee.

...contre l'armée macédonienne de Christophe.
...agaisnt the macedonian army of Christophe.

In the shadow of Greek ruins, Rome wants to expand ...First turn, my legions walk fast.

My Roman velites valiantly throw some javelins on the first elephants ...
and put them in fury! The elephant charge his friends in the wake!

Not unhappy in this beginning of the game! Two elephants on three touchdowns,
skirmishers fleeing, Christophe was grabbed by the throat ... I have yet to confirm!

That said, the Macedonian second line is more impressive : shields
reflecting the sun, the phalanx advance slowly but powerfully.

Turn 5 : as is the Macedonian tradition, the right wing is strongest ...
I put everything on an attack on their left wing, relying on slow phalanges ...

I send my legions, as soon as possible, armed with pilum and courage,
to fight the redoubtable phalanges ... victory must be decided here!

I gave all my orders on my right wing, and the Greek spears are coming,
slowly but surely face my cavalry ... I must sacrifice them, they missed their dodge!

Here's what remains of the Macedonian phalanx in the 8thturn, the legion won
and can now be turned on the center!

No comment for the end of the battle, the roman pilum pierces the macedonian cask.

VAE VICTIS!
Thus are treated the vanquished to the Riflemen ... btw, we are looking for new members,
the mortality rate is high among us ... if you're interested ...and courageous...

A few days after this battle, June 22 to be precise,
triggers the battle of Pydna, this time with elephants on the Roman side.
The exact date is known to us, because during the night march
under the eyes of the amazed mahouts, the red moon sends a signal very strange ...

Deus Vult...
Signal envoyé par Jupiter ou par Zeus? Ceci est une autre histoire...
Signal sent by Jupiter or Zeus? This is another story ...

Merci! Thanks! Tibi gratias agimus quod!

Phil.

  4. With all the brightly coloured shields ... stealth does not seem to be in the army's strategy. ;)

Wow, awesome second last photo. If all losers in a tabletop game was vanquished in such a manner than they would even be a rarer breed than now. XD

Poor Perseus! Like the other kings of his line, he seems fated never to win against Rome, no matter how many times Pydna is replayed...
