2016 AD...Saint Romain en Gal

VAE VICTIS!

Week end dernier, entre figurines et reconstituteurs...

Latest week end, between figures and reenactors...

Hoplites!

Hello everyone!
Two days of demonstrations in Saint-Romain-en-Gal, Archeological site...
And even though I started with the hoplites, the theme was 'The Gallic Wars' this year.
So place to the pictures!

Two demonstration tables: here the Romans against the Gauls. Pax Romana is far ...

Opening of the museum and already visitors attracted to our hobby ...

Ils peuvent observer de courageux légionnaires...
They can observe brave legionnaires ...

While in the sun (true) Romans are parading.

La Xème légion, venue d'Italie spécialement...
Especially from Italy,
the Xth legion...

A little poetry in this cruel world to end the march of another group ...
Pause déjeuner pour nos figurines, on amène les victuailles.
Lunch for our figurines, victuals are brought .

Préparation du repas, le vrai!...
Preparation of the meal, the real one!

Our second table, Etruscians with some psilois, bow armed...

Après les figurines, l'entraînement à pied...
After minis, training at foot...

...et à cheval!
...and on horse!

Les meules, initiation...
Let's try grinding wheels...

Last battles on the afternoon, Warbands are never tired...

Nor outside, here are the Daces, coming from Romania for the event...

Si vis pacem, para bellum!
Fin d'après-midi, on repose épées, arcs et boucliers...
End of afternoon, shields, swords and bows repose on the tables...

Encore que, pour finir la journée...
Mais c'est une autre histoire!
Although, in the end of the day ...
But that's another story!

Phil.

  11. Such delight, Phillie! The brave Gauls giving headaches to Caesar :) Hope they tied their bard to the tree during this event :) And the Daces are there too! We have Roman archaeological sites here too and it is interesting that almost 20 Roman emperors had been born here.

  18. Very nice game and venue, Phil. You know I am very impressed with those reenactors - however, I think some of them could've hit the tanning both prior to exposing so much flesh :)
