Saxon infantry in 1811-1813

Prêt à tenir la maison!
Ready to defend the house!

After fighting against France in 1806, the Saxon army engages in the Russian campaign with Napoleon, abandoning their old outfit. So, after my Saxon army in 1806, Dimitri Saxons for this later period ...

Feuer frei!
Les figurines sont des CGM...
The figurines are CGM ...

L'infanterie légère protège le ruisseau.
The light infantry protects the stream.

These are actually French uniforms used after the reform of Bardin, the Saxons

adopting the same cut with their reorganization (1809-1811). A detail differs

however: the French give up the sword lighter, while the Saxons

keep  it... at least until 1812.

Remains the 1813 campaign ... but that's another story ...

Gros plan sur la peinture de Dimitri.
Close up on Dim's painting.

  2. Awesome!! I rather like the Saxon army, but me and painting white uniforms don't mix too well.

    1. White uniforms are always a bit special, that's true! But your wonderful ruined house is white, isn't it?
      Thanks Rodger!

1 of the coolest uniforms of the period!

  6. Great looking figures. Coming to a game soon? Hopefully a small one to begin with so that they do not suffer from the "new unit" syndrome!

    1. Hi James!
      Thanks for your comment.
Our next battle is Essling, but no Saxon!
After that, I'm working on a little battle in the 1812 campaign, with those 'young" Saxons...may be they avoid the syndrome!
      Best,
      Phil.

  7. I've painted many old Spanish uniforms with the white coats, so I know how much work goes into getting the black lining just right. Very good work. I've never heard of CGM, maybe they're new?

    1. I'm also a fan of the spanish troops, that's why I'm looking at your blog from time to time!
CGM is Campaign Game Miniature, and they look very nice!
Thanks a lot for your comment,
      Phil.

    2. I just finished another, so I suppose I'll post it up then. I'll check out Campaign Game Miniatures. If the rest of their figures are as good as your Saxons are, then I'll have to order from them too.

      A+.
